District 8-2A :

Godley’s Isabella Shaver (Newcomer of the Year).

Shaver served 155 points in district play to rate as the top server in the league, and was named District 6-2A’s Server of the Year.

She also averaged 7.2 kills and 7.6 digs per game. Brooks averaged 9.2 kills and 5.4 blocks per game.

..."It takes a very dedicated athlete to do it," says Staci Bell of Grapevine, who takes her 15-year old daughter Lindsey to practices, games, league play and clinics. "It's a huge financial commitment, but you look at it as, it's helping her get into college."

That was the case for Mary Wendell, 17, a senior at Northwest High School, who signed in November for a partial scholarship to play for the University of Central Oklahoma.

Club volleyball has exploded in North Texas, says 900 director Meredith Van Horn. When she played club ball in the early 1990s, there were three clubs in the region. Now, there are 93....

Mansfield Legacy is the fourth school in the fast-growing suburb south of Arlington and was in its first year of competition in 4-5A. The team, with two freshmen, seven sophomores, three juniors and two seniors, was in a battle for district to the end. They finished third but knocked off Midland Lee in bi-district before falling to Amarillo in the second round.

Centenary Volleyball Announces the Signing of Erika Lunsford

SHREVEPORT—Centenary head volleyball coach Dan Gwitt has announced that Erika Lunsford signed a National Letter of Intent in the early signing period to join the Ladies in 2008. Lunsford is the first signee for the new coach since being appointed to the position on November 19th.

Trinity star following sister's path

Euless Trinity junior Zoe Adom is well-known at her high school, and not just because she's one of the Trojans' top volleyball and basketball players.

Zoe is also the younger sister of Zuela Adom, one of the best all-around athletes in school history. Zuela Adom graduated from Trinity in 2004 after earning three state silver medals in the triple jump, all-region honors in basketball and all-district honors in volleyball.

Zoe is a 5-foot-9 middle blocker and setter for Trinity's volleyball team, which is 24-10 overall and 9-0 in District 7-5A. She is among the area leaders in blocks this season, averaging 1.15 per game.
